He Toi Ora is an immersive four-hour Professional Learning Development experience for educational leaders and sector professionals, delivered on the whenua at Rangiriri.
Guided by Mana Whenua, participants are taken beyond the pages of history to hear the narratives of Rangiriri from the people and place they belong to. Explore the origins of the Kiingitanga, understand the events that led to the Crown invasion of Waikato, and examine the lasting intergenerational impacts these events continue to have today.
Walk the whenua. Stand alongside the remnants of the original Rangiriri Paa earthworks. Enter Maaori replica trenches constructed to original scale. Discover the narratives held within Te Maataarae ki Rangiriri, our pou and tomokanga, and gain a deeper understanding of the people, decisions and events that shaped this significant chapter of Aotearoa New Zealand history.
